Setting FUN birding goals for the new year

When the new year rolls around, most folks like to set resolutions about eating, exercising, or changes to their routine. Those are great, but how about setting a goal that’s extra FUN? Setting birding goals can be a fun way for new and experienced birders alike to keep things fresh and exciting. Plus, it makes you feel good when you can check off something off your list. Here are a couple suggestions for setting a new birding goal this year.

Grow your knowledge

If you want to know more about a specific feathered friend or just know more about birding in general, a goal to learn more is a great choice! Jot down one or more things you’d like to learn and set a timeframe for each goal. Start something new

If you haven’t started birding, the new year is a great time to start! If you’ve only dabbled in feeding or setting out a birdbath, a fun goal might be to venture out to enjoy birding even more. Keep track of them and jot what you notice about them. Field guides and bird identification apps are some great resources to make this goal reachable.
